The acrylic and mixed media paintings, entitled “The Trio” and “Horns of Plenty,” are part of Ray’s "In the Spirit" series, which pays homage to the sounds and movement of music and dance from the past to the present.
“Music and dance have been a constant inspiration in my life,” says Ray, who was a Herman Fellow at Lally. “I learned to play the piano, clarinet, and violin at a young age. I have danced since I can remember. They have influenced my visual artwork on many levels. These inspirations have brought life and movement to my Musician series of paintings. Art, music and dance have been an integral part of cultures throughout the ages. They are strung in our hearts and souls. I take this wonderful part of our collective history, and create artwork that sings with positive energy. In this symphony of connection to our past, the viewers share the positive energy with one another, here and now.” View Painting Series Online.
