Dean Yi Zhihong of the School of Business of Renmin University in Beijing, China, visited Lally the week of August 10.
During her visit, she met with Rensselaer Provost Robert E. Palazzo and Lally Associate Dean Jeffrey F. Durgee to discuss faculty and student exchanges and joint academic conferences. Rensselaer President, Dr. Shirley Jackson, and Renmin President, Dr. Baocheng Ji, had approved the student exchange Memorandum of Understanding shortly before her visit. Incoming Renmin exchange students are expected to arrive in Troy starting spring 2010.
While on campus, Dean Yi, a professor of Corporate Finance, delivered a lecture at Lally about The Global Financial Crisis' Impact on China, and planned future research collaborations with Lally faculty, including Lois Peters, Dmitri Markovitch, and William Tracy.
She also toured the Rensselaer campus, accompanied by Lally Professor Hao Zhao.
Renmin University hosted Lally’s Executive MBA XXII class international residency in August 2009, led by Lally Dean David Gautschi. Renmin also hosted a Rensselaer Faculty-led Study Abroad course in summer 2008. Three current Lally faculty members, Anna Cui, Yawen Jiao, and Hao Zhao, obtained their bachelor’s degrees from Renmin.
Renmin is a leading university in China. Its School of Business, which has 3800 full time students, offers undergraduate, masters, MBA, Executive MBA and PhD degrees.
