Thomas Reithinger ’09 Uses Financial Modeling to Analyze Capital Markets During Internship at Dix Hills Partners

Reithinger, majoring in Management and Computer Science Engineering, is also a member of the Lally Hedge Fund Group. He interned as a Capital Markets Analyst for the summer.

Dix Hills Partners, co-founded in 2003 by William Gordon ‘77, manages over $790 million in investments.

Reithinger reports:  "I have been having a great time at Dix Hills.  Personally, I love the small-business atmosphere that exists here.  It is definitely a breath of fresh air compared to my previous work experiences.   I have been working extensively with the Senior Research Analyst on modeling various economic factors that might predict trends and prices in futures markets.  We have been using a lot of statistical models and I have learned a ton about interest rates, futures markets, and developing econometric models.  I would highly recommend it as a rich learning experience; however, I do caution that it is not for everybody.  I think you need to have lots of self-motivation to work in this kind of environment and not give up easily when a model fails."
