The Buttonwood Club is holding its Annual Debate Competition. No matter how good you are at debate or professional discussion, we welcome you to participate. Give yourself a wonderful opportunity to learn, discuss, and debate about a current important issue in the financial industry.

The annual Modeling Competition organized by Center for Financial Studies (CFS) at the Rensselaer Lally School aims to encourage research, modeling, and analytical effort by all participants. The competition is evaluated by a panel of judges and there are cash awards given to the winners. Members of the competing teams found most valuable by their teammates are invited to represent Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute in the national IAQF Modeling Competition.
The annual IAQF Modeling Competition provides a platform for all the students in the Financial Engineering programs to apply their knowledge and passion to solve a timely and important topic in the quantitative finance area.
Winners of the 2013 CFS Modeling Competition

- Second Place Team: Dongyang Wang, Yulin Li, Wenhua Xiao, and Jingli Li

and Team Cenwei Yang, Yaolin Huang, Yucen Yang, Shengran Wang, and Anthony Randazzo.
Bloomberg Assessment Test (BAT)
BAT is a test used by top employers in many fields such as Investment Banking, Sales and Trading, Asset Management, Insurance, Financial Sales, and Consulting to find competitive candidates. It is a good way for students to show their knowledge and skills to potential employers. BAT is conducted twice a year at Rensselaer at no cost to the students.
The Bloomberg Terminal is a computer system provided by Bloomberg L.P. for users to monitor and analyze real-time financial market data movements and place trades on the electronic trading platform. The Center for Financial Studies in the Rensselaer Lally School has facilitated students with this terminal for their study. Professionals from Bloomberg will be invited to deliver tutorials.
CFA Prep is a program dedicated to helping CFA candidates prepare for the CFA examinations. The program will invite experienced CFA test-takers to give instructions and conduct mock examinations. CFA Prep in the fall semester is designed for the CFA Level 1 December Exam, and a similar program (on sufficient demand) in spring semester for the CFA Level 2 June Exam. Any student in Lally can join this program for free and benefit from informative lectures and active discussions.
